If your house was built decades ago, almost nothing in it is perfectly square, level or straight. That’s normal, and it’s exactly why custom-made products so often don’t fit on the first try.
A tape gives you lengths between two points. It doesn’t tell you whether the wall leans, whether the corner is 88 or 92 degrees, or whether the floor falls 15 mm across the room. Two people can measure the same wall and get different numbers, depending on where they hold the tape, how tight it is, and whether the wall bows in the middle.
A benchtop, vanity or glass splashback is made to a fixed shape. If it’s designed around “square” dimensions in a room that isn’t, you’ll see gaps, forced fits or a remake.
Modern measurement systems record the position of individual points in three dimensions. Instead of a handful of lengths, you get a true picture of the room, including every angle and deviation, which can be drawn directly as a plan.
Before ordering anything custom, get the room measured in a way that captures its real shape. That’s exactly what we do at TemplateMate.
